In another case of Hollywood heartbreak in 2020, we’re sad to report that the latest loved-up pair to have made the decision to part ways this year are Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson.

While neither party has made any sort of official statement about the news, a source close to the pair seems to have confirmed the news on their behalf. “Cara and Ashley always had their ups and down before but it’s over now,” said source told People, the publication also adding that the couple are thought to have parted ways in early April. “Their relationship just ran its course.”

Per People, sources have also added that Delevingne has recently been spending time in quarantine with friends including Margaret Qualley and her sister Rainey Qualley, as well as Kaia Gerber, as she, and much of the world with her, eagerly await the eventual passing of the Covid-19 pandemic. It looks as though Benson also joined Delevingne and Gerber while self-isolating, along with 13 Reasons Why’s Tommy Dorfman on occasion, however the last evidence of combined quarantine, looks to have taken place in mid-March, when both Benson and Delevingne took to Instagram to showcase their TikTok talents together.

Delevingne and Benson’s split comes nearly two years after the pair were first romantically linked, the British model and actress, and the Pretty Little Liars alum first sparking dating rumours in May 2018. The rumours ramped up once again in August later that same year, when the actress pair were seen hand-in-hand at London’s Heathrow Airport. Looking to have all but confirmed their relationship status, the pair were spotted hugging and kissing as they awaited a taxi. Keen-eyed onlookers also spotted Benson wearing a dainty necklace with a letter ‘C’ pendant on it, yet another sign of modern day love—just ask Meghan Markle.

Since then, the couple have weaved in and out of extreme privacy, and adorable moments of PDA, spending much of their time in public runway-side, or on a more unfortunate note, defending their relationship when trolls went after Benson, and Delevingne promptly stepped in to her defence, making clear her relationship with Benson was “true love”.

As reported by People, Delevingne confirmed her and Benson’s relationship in June 2019, telling E! News that she shared an Instagram video kissing Benson in honour of not only the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, but also their one-year anniversary.

“I don’t know because it is Pride, it’s been 50 years since Stonewall happened and I don’t know,” she told the publication at the time. “It’s been just about our one-year anniversary so, why not?”

We’ve spent much of the year mourning the parting of some of our most favourite pairs—Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp’s split, and Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler’s breakup still sting a little—and now we have one more once-couple to shed a tear for. 2020, no more!
